The 2009 Collin College Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony was held on August 6, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Frisco, Texas.  Jill Hickman, Owner and Administrator for Senior Select Home Health, is pictured above with this year's recipient, Katherine A. Conner.

Ms. Jill Hickman,

"I wanted to personally thank you for the scholarship I've received from the Collin College Foundation.  The award of the Senior Select Home Health Scholarship means a great deal to me. I have been attending school for three years already, including the courses I took in preparation for entering nursing school at Collin College.  The tuition and book payments have been a struggle for my husband and me, as we do not earn much even with both of us working fulltime.  Sending me to school has been a big investment for us, and we've been relying on student loans.  The receipt of this scholarship will lift the burden off my family, and allow me to better concentrate on my studies.  I'm not certain yet which area I will specialize in, but feel certain that my clinical rotations will help me choose.  After attaining my associates degree, I intend to bridge over to a masters degree through Texas Woman's university.  This scholarship will go far in helping me to achieve my best work in pursuit of my goals".
